.1. PRELUDE
According to Sections 54 and 55 of Cr.PC a police officer can arrest without warrant. The rational of Section 54 and 55 is
(I) That these provisions are of a primitive nature, and, therefore, are to be 3 given restricted interpretation
2. RELEVANT PROVISION
Secs. 54 and 55 Cr.PC (1) According to Section (1) According to Section 54. Any police officer may ', without an order from a magistrate, and without a warrant arrest
*Any person who has been concerned in any cognizable offence
* against whom a reasonable complaint has been made.
* against whom a credible information has been received
*against whom a reasonable suspicion exists that they may be concerned in cognizable offence .

*Possession of implement of house breaking.
*In case of proclaimed offender.
*Suspicion of stolen property.
*Obstruction in duty
*Deserter from Armed Forces.
*Offences committed outside Pakistan
*Arrest on Requisition from another Police Station
